Ingredients
Directions
1 (4 pound) whole chicken, cut into pieces
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 teaspoon chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup water
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 potatoes, diced
1/2 cup chopped carrot
3 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon gravy browning
1. Place chicken in a bowl. Sprinkle the garlic, onion, salt, black pepper and gravy browning over it. Stir. Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
2. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pot over medium heat
3. Add the chicken pieces to the pot, and brown while periodically turning
4. Add 1 cup of water, carrot, potato and ketchup and cover the pot
5. Continue cooking until chicken is tender, about 30 minutes
6. Taste and season with additional salt, ketchup and pepper if needed
7. Serve chicken with the sauce in the pot as the gravy
