Directions
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. white sugar
2 tbsp. baking powder
1 3/4 cups milk
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 large egg
1 tsp. salt
1. Preheat oven to 400 degree F
2. Lightly grease a 10-inch skillet with a little of the melted butter
3. Add dry ingredients (cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt) in a large bowl. Mix well and set aside
4. Whisk wet ingredients (egg, milk and melted butter)
5. Slowly add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, mix well to remove any lumps
6. Add batter to skillet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a tester (toothpick, knife, etc.) inserted in the center comes out clean
7. Let the cornbread rest for 10-20 minutes in the skillet before cutting it into wedges and serving
